Prizes and Travel Grants for Polish Studies

º£½ÇÉçÇø Polish Studies works with variousÌýsponsors to reward students of Polish literature, language,Ìýculture and history for academic and creativeÌýexcellence. We also aim to provide opportunities for students to spend time in Poland.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Polish Studies offers severalÌýprizes to students.

Travel Grants

All students of Polish literature, language and culture at º£½ÇÉçÇø are eligible to apply for small discretionary grants towards the costs of travel to Poland for research or study purposes. Please write to Dr Stanley Bill with inquiries: sb2054@cam.ac.uk

The University of WarsawÌýPrize for Literary Translation

An annualÌýcompetition for best translation of a poem from PolishÌýinto English open to all students of SL13: Introduction to theÌýLanguage, Literature and Culture of Poland.ÌýIn 2014-15, theÌýentries were judged by eminent Polish poet, Adam Zagajewski, andÌýacclaimed translator of Polish literature, Antonia Lloyd-Jones.

The winner was announcedÌýat the º£½ÇÉçÇø Polish Studies event, AdamÌýZagajewski: An Evening of Poetry, on 28 April 2015 at Trinity College's Winstanley Lecture Theatre. The first three editionsÌýof the prize wereÌýsponsored by .

In 2015-16, the prize was presented by Olga Tokarczuk. In 2016-17, the prize was presented by Dorota Masłowska.

The main prizeÌýis a summer school course in Polish language and culture at the ,Ìýincluding flights, accommodation and board.ÌýThe prize is sponsored by the University of Warsaw under the Ìýbetween º£½ÇÉçÇø and Warsaw.

The competition will be open once againÌýto all students of SL13: Introduction to theÌýLanguage, Literature and Culture of Poland in 2018-19.
