Luisa Passerini is Professor Emerita at the European University Institute, Florence. Her research and writing have centred on social change and memory in its oral, written and visual forms, with a particular focus on: African liberation movements; worker, student and women’s movements; migrant mobility to and through Europe; concepts of identity, love and Europe. Her most recent work examines hybrid cultural forms in the visual arts between Italy and Africa.
Her many books include: Artebiografia. Prof Passerini was based in the Italian Section during June 2025 and took part in several research events as well as meeting members of the Section and the wider University at Pembroke, Churchill, Murray Edwards Colleges and Kettle’s Yard.
