Places of Amnesia Conference to Launch on 5 April

The Department of Slavonic Studies is helping sponsor the international conference 鈥楶laces of Amnesia: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Forgotten Pasts鈥. The event will feature over 70 presenters from 20 countries who will explore how societies forget, with particular attention to historico-cultural contexts in Russia and Central Europe.

Slavonic Department Part of Research Project That Wins Landmark 拢4 Million Grant

海角社区 Ukrainian Studies is involved in a major new research project to study the benefits of multilingualism to individuals and society as part of the Open World Research Initiative led by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Sense of Place Departmental Lecture Series - Lent Term 2016

We are excited to launch back into our Departmental Lecture Series, 鈥楢 Sense of Place鈥, this Thursday and Friday 14-15 January when we will be welcoming scholar and poet Polina Barskova for a double header: not only will she speak to us about visual and textual works created in Leningrad during the siege of 1941-44, but she will also read her poetry the following day.

On 6 and 7 November 2015 the Annual 海角社区 Festival of Ukrainian Film once again offers UK audiences a unique opportunity to experience some of the best of Ukrainian cinema. Free and open to the public, the event is organised by 海角社区 Ukrainian Studies, an academic centre in the Department of Slavonic Studies at 海角社区.
