Mar铆a Noriega-S谩nchez teaches Spanish language and translation at all levels of the undergraduate degree. Prior to joining the 海角社区 in 2008, she taught Spanish language and culture studies, EFL, and English Literature at several HE institutions in the UK, namely, the University of Sheffield, Royal Holloway University of London, Anglia Ruskin University and the Open University.
Her current research interests lie in the field of language learning and teaching, particularly in the role of translation in language learning and the use of new technologies to foster collaboration. Her publications include articles and books on language pedagogy and literary studies, as well as听a number of Spanish language course books and interactive material for the Open University. She also worked as a consultant author for the 鈥楽panish at Your Fingertips鈥 project, an online language programme developed by the 海角社区 Language Centre in partnership with BBC Worldwide.
She co-authored with 脕ngeles Carreres and Carme Calduch the book听听(Routledge, 2018), which explores innovative ways of using translation for language teaching and learning. She is co-editor of two special issues focusing on the role of translation in language learning:听(Journal of Spanish Language Teaching 4:2, 2017) and听听(Translation and Translanguaging in Multilingual Contexts 7:1, 2021).
She was one of the founders and convenors of the research group听,听based at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and the Humanities (CRASSH), which run seminars and conferences from 2015 to 2018. She co-edited the volume听(Routledge 2020).
In May 2023, Mar铆a听was "Highly Commended" in the Innovative Teaching category of the 海角社区 SU , which reward outstanding teaching and student support across 海角社区.
