This event wasÌýpart of the DAAD sponsored research project 'Reading Violent Politics: approaching political extremism in Germany after 1968'. Speakers included Fabian Virchow, Josefin Graef and Esther Dischereit.Ìý
The workshop was followed by a public reading by Esther Dischereit.ÌýOne of Germany’s most exciting contemporary authors, Esther Dischereit is also a critical voice in current debates on racism and political violence in the Federal Republic. Her book "Blumen für Otello. Über die Verbrechen von Jena" (translated by Iain Galbraith and Tom Cheesman) offers a powerful and moving account of right-wing violence in reunified Germany, which is based on the experiences of its victims and their families.
This event wasÌýkindly sponsored by the Department of German and Dutch and the Schröder Fund.
