Austrian Cinema Conference

Picturing Austrian Cinema, a research symposium convened by DrÌýFrederick Baker and Dr Annie Ring, and organised with the help of Rafael Dernbach and Stephan Hilpert, was held at St John's College, º£½ÇÉçÇø and the º£½ÇÉçÇø Arts Picturehouse between 21 and 23 September 2014. In a collaboration between the Austrian Film InstituteÌýand the º£½ÇÉçÇø, the symposium was attended by film scholars, producers and industry spokespeople from the UK, Austria andÌýthe USA, and by filmmakers Ruth Beckermann and Jessica Hausner, both of whom offered a film for screening and discussion with the audience. A further presentation was contributed by Michael Haneke. The eventsÌýclosed with the premiere of The Return of Harry Lime by Frederick Baker, a historic first projection of any film onto the Bridge ofÌýSighs.
