脕ngeles Carreres's interests lie in the fields of translation and language learning. She has published a number of papers in these areas and, with Mar铆a Noriega-S谩nchez and Carme Calduch, is joint author of听听(Routledge, 2018), a handbook which explores innovative ways of using translation for language teaching and learning. She is co-editor of two special issues focusing on the role of translation in language learning:听(Journal of Spanish Language Teaching, Taylor & Francis, 2017) and听听(Translation and Translanguaging in Multilingual Contexts, John Benjamins, 2021).
脕ngeles is also interested in the interplay between translation and philosophy. She is the author of the monograph听听(Crossing Borders: The Rhetoric of Translation in Jacques Derrida, Peter Lang, 2005), which looks at Jacques Derrida鈥檚 take on translation. She has co-edited the volume听(Routledge 2020).
脕ngeles is a member of the Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed journal听听(John Benjamins) and, with Monica Boria, is currently co-editor of , a journal focussing on the practice of literary translation into and out of Romance languages. She is one of the founders and former convenors of the research group听, based at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and the Humanities (CRASSH).
In 2008 she was awarded the University鈥檚 Pilkington Prize for excellence in teaching. 脕ngeles has translated works of fiction from English into Spanish.
