Postgrad Daria Mattingly Wins Best Doctoral Paper Prize at 2015 ASN Convention Daria Mattingly, a PhD candidate in the Department of Slavonic Studies working with supervisor Dr Rory Finnin, has won an award for听the Best Doctoral Paper on Ukraine at the 2015 Association for the Study of Nationalities Convention in听New York City. Her paper was entitled 鈥樷淚dle, Drunk and Good for Nothing鈥: The Cultural Memory听of the Holodomor Rank-and-File Perpetrator鈥.听

The听Association for the Study of Nationalities听(ASN) is the most significant scholarly association for the study of nationalism. It is dedicated to the promotion of knowledge and understanding of听ethnicity,听nationalism, and ethnic conflict, with a particular geographic focus on Central, Eastern,听and Southeastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus, and Eurasia. ASN is based at Columbia University. It publishes听Nationalities Papers听and, in听collaboration with the Specialist Group on Ethnopolitics of the听Political Studies Association,听Ethnopolitics.听 听
