A study undertaken by听Dr Napoleon听Katsos听补苍诲 顿谤听碍测谤颈补办辞蝉听础苍迟辞苍颈辞耻, along with researchers at the University of Cyprus听补苍诲 the Cyprus University of Technology, has听found that speaking dialects confers the same cognitive advantages as speaking different languages.
The ability of children to speak any two dialects (two varieties of the same language)听may confer the same cognitive advantages as those reported for children who speak two or more substantially different languages.
